Council is considering an application that proposes to increase the density and construct a ten-storey, mixed-use building with ground-floor commercial uses and rental residential apartments above. The proposal would retain the façade of the Heritage Designated building located at 825 Fort Street and designate the façade of 819-823 Fort Street.

The application is ready to proceed to Public Hearing and proposes to permit the construction of a new four-storey hotel building with additional guest rooms, while retaining the two existing hotel buildings.

The purpose of the bylaw is to authorize an agreement securing at least two residential units as rental only for a period of not less than 10 years, and to ensure that no restrictions are placed on the rental of dwelling units, for the lands known as 423 Edward Street, Victoria, BC.
